Ήμουν ο μοναδικός προσκεκλημένος απο την περιφέρεια Πελοποννήσου και ο Δήμος Κορινθίων για πρώτη φορα στην ιστορια του προσκαλείται σε ενα διεθνές Forum και είναι ιδιαίτερη τιμή για εμένα να τον εκπροσωπώ !

Good afternoon,
and welcome to the presentation of Corinth City . We’re excited to share with you today the importance of creating vibrant and inclusive learning communities, and how cities can play a critical role in fostering lifelong learning. So, let’s dive in and explore together how we can build a brighter future for ourselves and our communities through learning!
The municipality of Corinth is the gateway to mythical Peloponnese, with a population of 60.000 inhabitants.
It is a city with a strong historical, archaeological, and cultural heritage, with a unique folklore tradition and significant natural landmarks. It is remarkable cultural and natural resources constitute significant comparative advantages that make it an ideal field for designing a truly innovative policy of tourism development.
The region guards a unique treasure in the world. The Municipality of Corinth has archaeological sites, such as those of Ancient Corinth, Ancient Ports of Kechrias and Lechaion, among others.
It also has a rare wealth of Byzantine and post-Byzantine architecture (churches, castles, towers, residential complexes), 2 museums (Archaeological Museum of Ancient Corinth and Folklore Museum of Corinth) and thematic areas of exceptional natural beauty (Kokkosi Wetland and Ancient Port of Lechaion, natural landmarks of paleontological and historical value, Tzalika forest in Sofiko, and the Hot Springs of Orea Eleni).
Finally, there are organized beaches with crystal clear waters and picturesque ports that offer opportunities for sea sports and excursions in the surrounding areas.
The fortress of Acrocorinth, is included in the NATURA 2000 Network. In addition, significant festivals are organized every year. The Municipality of Corinth has great potential for developing Cultural, Religious Alternative Tourism.
We developed the collaborative schemes, we exchanged ideas for organizational plans, we unified research programs, and a strategic promotion of cultural spaces with other regions within and outside the borders (Learning Cities). We also collaborated with associations, schools, learning cities, hybrid, international, and domestic seminars and conferences among stakeholders.
The cultural, historical, and religious heritage of the city of Corinth has been promoted and showcased throughout the geographic area of the municipality, by suggesting starting the creation of a route based on the Homeric Epics, on the mythology, and investigate information about the region (in terms of the winemaking, the way of life, and the traditions). In addition, there is a plan on development of a large network of trails (124 km of hiking trails).
Furthermore, the marketing scheme includes:
- Connecting cultural routes with gastronomic/culinary experiences (either contemporary or with historical thematic content).
- Connecting Cultural & Religious Tourism with ecotourism, gentle sports activities, and showcasing the natural environment that holds cultural interest, as the natural wealth of the mountains blends with the archaeological and historical sites and the mythology of the region.
- Logo, Site & Social Media creating
- TV, Radio, Metro & Train advertising, interviews to journalists wide-ranging television channels.
- Blue Flag Program and LOOP project participation
- Brochures’ Publication, containing tourist info in 6 languages
- Tourist application in two languages

- Promotional fam trips in the municipality of Corinth

- Providing a broader cultural and historical context of the destination

Regarding educational and experiential activities for discerning tourists, the agenda comprises the highlighting of the destination’s intangible cultural heritage, as many traditional festivals dedicated to Orthodox saints take place in the mountainous settlements. Moreover, events are organized on anniversaries such as, the Greek War of Independence in 1821.
There are also collaborative actions and partnerships between archaeological and historical sites, with a focus on Mycenaean civilization, the Roman era, and the Greek Revolution of 1821, aiming to connect visitors with Greek history.
Corinth is a destination with a rich history, offering a cultural journey, an adventure in nature, a stroll through picturesque harbors, and unique villages with their special history and cuisine. It’s all here for you to discover, and collect unique experiences that will become everlasting memories .
